Fun days

Mike and I made our way to Florence and visited Heceta Beach. It was about 20 degrees cooler there than in Eugene. I found a bunch of jelly fish that I kept almost stepping on. We went a little further up the beach to the largest sea lion caves in America and we were going to take the tour but we were informed that we would not see any sea lions because they are all in the water preparing for winter so we would only see the caves. We decided we will go back in the summer when we can actually see the sea lions in the wild!

The beach was soooo foggy we couldn't even see 10 feet in front of us for the first hour but then it cleared up a bit and we could see 20 feet in front of us. The water was FREEZING but there were still plenty of crazies out swimming around. But it was a fun day!

This is Mike with Mr. Ken Kesey himself...dad should appreciate this one, this is a memorial for the guy who wrote "One Flew Over the KooKoo's Nest". He was a very large man, this was life size and he was huge! We found him right in the heart of downtown.

Yesterday went on a trip around downtown Eugene and went in all the little shops and just wandered around. This was a really neat fountain we found on one of the corners.

Oregon

Well I made it to Oregon with no problems. The drive was loooong and quite boring. The entire east side of Oregon is nothing but nothingness. It was straight long roads with nothing to see.

We had some fun stops along the way; we stopping in a little nothing town called Brothers with nothing within 70 miles of it. We decided to eat at the little Cafe/gas station/post office/gift shop/grocery store....all in one! Well all the regulars were there (I'm guessing that's the entire town) and they were very old friendly men. The one old man told us crazy things and took our picture then told us he would email it to us so we would always remember that day. It was fantastic! And to make things even better I had the BEST bacon cheese burger I have ever had. So if anyone is planning a trip to Eugene anytime I would suggest stopping in Brothers and trying one of those!

Everything else has been going good, we have been lost a couple times in this town. Oregon is quite different than Utah in many ways. The street signs, the stop lights, the spiders!!! But I am having a great time exploring this place and learning new things. My apartment is beautiful; the picture is taken from my back patio, it is a very green place with trees EVERYWHERE!!!

Well that is all for now, I will be posting pictures of the town and all the weird things I am not used to, so check back soon! I miss everyone from home but know that I am doing great and I will talk to you soon!
